Designing a home is about more than selecting beautiful finishes. It's about creating a place that supports the way you live, welcomes the people you love, and reflects your story with intention and lasting character.
-
Once you submit your project inquiry form here, please utilize the link at the bottom of the form to schedule your complementary phone consultation. We ask that you provide as much information as possible to help us gauge whether our team is the perfect match for your project.
During the phone call Hailey will learn more details about your project and explain how we can best serve you. If Hailey Kolbe Design is a good fit for your project Hailey will schedule your in-person consultation at the end of your phone consultation.
-
During the in person consultation, we get to know you and the needs of your project. We discuss your goals and determine functional requirements as well as the aesthetic you want to achieve. We establish the project scope of work and discuss the budget. If your project is a new build or renovation, we will include our preferred builder in this meeting. Please note all construction bids will come directly from the builder.
After the meeting, Hailey will prepare a design proposal based on the scope of work we previously discussed for your reviewal. Once the scope of work is finalized, you will receive a client agreement to sign, and full payment of the design proposal is due. You will then receive your client organization binder and your project will officially begin based upon the timeline previously established.
-
At this phase, the team at Hailey Kolbe Design gathers and organizes any inspiration or request you previously provided, and we refine the initial design concepts for each space. Ideas for architectural elements, materials, joinery and color schemes are produced through imagery and presented to you in an in-person meeting to hear your feedback.
-
Developing the schematic ideas into a fully functional design solution, includes project specific items such as cabinetry design and the selection of flooring, wall coverings, counters, hardware, plumbing, lighting and finishes. This phase ends with the design selections presented to you in a digital presentation along with renderings and material samples.

Once the design is approved, all interior components, materials, written specifications, renderings are documented in the HK Design “Builder Book.” Once the comprehensive documentation is complete we will schedule a meeting with you to review. Upon your approval we will provide the completed book to the builder or general contractor for construction to begin.
-
Once the builder book is submitted, we will meet with you to review and discuss the furnishings budget along with any of your request or details needed for the design.
Next, we begin the design selections of your furnishings, such as upholstery, casegoods, rugs, window treatments, art and accessories for full-service clients. A digital design presentation along with sample materials such as textiles and finishes will follow the selection process.
Throughout construction, we attend regular job site meetings to review design decisions, placement and material installations. We track progress and work as a team with the builder to resolve any issues that may arise during the build and ensure the design is crafted flawlessly.
-
Procurement begins once the furnishing design is approved, and estimate has been paid in full. Our team will start by sending purchase orders to vendors and review each order selection for accuracy, confirm prices, lead times for shipping and delivery details. We will also inspect each product as it arrives and handle any claims necessary for damages.
For the duration of the project, we will keep you up to date on any delays, completed shipments and the estimated installation day.
-
Installation begins once construction is complete. We coordinate the installation of your new furnishing items with our movers and delivery team to set up your new space. We can also provide a project organizer for your personal items if needed. Depending on the size of your project the install may last 1-3 days as we place your furniture, stage shelving, hang your artwork and add the finishing touches to photograph your newly design home!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
The benefit of hiring an interior designer is to achieve a well thought out and planned finished project in a timely manner. All aspects of the project, for example, paint selection, furniture purchase, and window treatments are included. You are presented the selections for your home in person with fabrics, materials, and samples for you to envision your new interiors. You are hiring a professional who has experience in seeing the entire picture of your home while selecting and assisting you during your home building or remodeling process. The full picture includes everything from your floor plan, material selections, lighting, furniture selections, window treatments all while considering your needs, priorities and existing furniture.
-
If you are considering building or remodeling you yield the most return by hiring an interior designer before you select a builder/general contractor. Prior to selecting a contractor I will assist with your questions and make recommendations pertaining to the best team for your project. A designer is most effectively utilized when the full project can be taken into consideration in the early architectural phase, and a design presentation can happen before you even break ground or begin your remodel. This provides a smoother construction process.
One of the most common mistakes made by homeowners is during the architectural phase of the building process, when they do not consider existing furniture that will move into the new residence. During the architectural phase of your project it is essential to consider your existing furniture sizes and aesthetic to assist in space planning and your budget.

Services include a presentation of the proposed design selections based upon your needs and priorities to help you visualize your new interiors; along with time on site to assure all project managers and sub contractors have the design concepts needed to implement the proposed design. It also includes, finished paint schedules and facilitation of any conversations necessary with your builder or general contractor to ensure the design you have selected is implemented and your budget is considered throughout the entirety of the project.

My design services begin with an at home consultation for us to get acquainted and discuss your project and budget. After the consultation, I will send you a design proposal based upon your specific request. Once you have approved the contract, we begin designing which ranges between 2-6 weeks depending on the scope of your project. Next, I will schedule our presentation appointment for you to view my design details and selections. During the presentation I walk you through the cohesive design for you to visualize concepts, such as hard and soft materials together. At this time you are able to give feedback and make requested changes. Depending on your request, the next step would be my team creating paint schedules and acquire pricing for any proposed furniture selections. Our next meeting would be to review the project pricing, then once selections are approved they are placed into ordering. Throughout the remainder of the process we communicate about your project needs and schedule on site meetings to help make decisions for any moving parts, such as electrical placement or cabinetry design.

Every project has a different scope of work – no project is the same and clients typically have different request ranging from full scope (new build or remodel with furniture needs) to merely construction design services. For that reason it only seems fair that I evaluate each project’s needs, desired aesthetic and time required at the project site on an individual basis. During the first at home consultation we get to know one another and I ask you many questions to learn about your lifestyle, what’s meaningful to you, and how you would like your new space to feel and function for you. I will also walk the space to see any items you would like to reuse in the redesign. During this time I am able to better explain how I can serve you and facilitate your specific project request. After the consultation, I will send you a design proposal tailored to your specific needs and priorities.
